Abandoned Baby
| The baby’s bootie represents our abandoned baby project which provides training on the emergency medical care of the abandoned new-borns. This training is provided to first contacts of abandoned babies: community members, policemen and social workers. The training is in the emergency management of the abandoned new-borns. Participants attending our abandoned baby training are taught how to resuscitate them, how to clamp and cut umbilical cords (if still attached), warm, feed and dress the newborn and to take the baby for a check-up to the nearest health facility. |
We also provide police stations and welfare offices with “abandoned baby packs” consisting of gloves, umbilical cord clamps, sterile blades, milk powder, baby clothes, bottles and blanket for the abandoned babies.
